Dog attack compensation claim

The Incident

The Claimant had been walking her two dogs on the lead, late at night, near to her home. As they were walking, they were approached by two Anatolian Shepherds who were off the lead and not wearing a collar. The dogs were unsupervised, and they had escaped from the property where they were being kept. The dogs viciously attacked one of the Claimant’s small dogs causing significant injuries. The Claimant was also viciously attacked and bitten by the dogs suffering multiple lacerations.

Partner managed to pull the dogs off

The Claimant’s partner managed to pull the dogs off the Claimant which allowed her to run back towards her home with her other dog. The Claimant’s partner was only able to hold the dogs for a short period and thereafter the dogs chased the Claimant down the road. The Claimant was terrified for her life and thought she was going to die.

Owner pleads guilty

The Police, once on the scene, took the two dogs into police custody. The owner was subsequently charged and pleaded guilty to the offences of being in possession of the dogs dangerously out of control.

Despite undergoing multiple surgeries, the Claimant’s small dog tragically died a few weeks later.

Claimant receives £55,000 for lacerations to her head and hands

The Claimant suffered lacerations to her head and hands and was diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Following the issue of court proceedings, the claim was settled in the sum of £55,000.
