Stuart was elected to the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers’ National Executive Committee in 2007 and served for nine years, including three years as APIL’s elected company secretary.

Stuart was also a member of the Law Society’s policy-making body the Law Society Council and its Civil Justice Committee from 2010 to 2013.

Stuart acted for a US litigation attorney in a personal injury damages claim arising out of a road accident in London. The Claimant sustained multiple complex pelvic fractures when a car reversed crushing her against wall. Expert evidence in pelvic surgery, psychiatry, uro-gynaecology, pain management and forensic accountancy demonstrated a significant future loss and the claim was settled at a round table meeting for £2.3m. His client said: “I wanted to pass on my sincere thanks for the way you handled my case. Obviously the financial outcome was great and much better than originally anticipated, but your professionalism, obvious knowledge and experience and wise counsel has been hugely appreciated, and made a huge difference during a very difficult time”
Stuart represented a young man who suffered a severe brain injury in a road accident, which left him with significant cognitive impairment and the need for help to structure his day and to manage his affairs. The case on liability was hotly contested but was settled just before trial for £2m damages gross of contributory negligence. The award was administered by the Court of Protection to secure the long term care and support needed to help my client live independently.
Acted for victims of Oxshott rail crash and secured £1.1m in compensation payments for a US economist who was crushed in the train and suffered spinal injuries. High Court action settled at round table meeting shortly before trial.
