Sexual & Physical Abuse Claims
Our specialist abuse lawyers help many people who have suffered sexual and physical abuse. We know that compensation will not undo the experience you have suffered. It can, however, help you take the first steps to start moving on with your life, and gain the justice you deserve.
How Osbornes Law can help you
Osbornes Lawyers have successfully handled cases against individuals, hospitals, voluntary and other organisations.
We know how difficult it is to speak about abuse suffered, at the hands of another. Our teams here will make time to listen and give you the legal expertise, support and guidance to help you consider next steps and discuss your eligibility to make a claim.
We understand how traumatic it will be for you to discuss what has happened to you. Stephanie and her team will always treat you with great care and understanding whilst being respectful of your personal circumstances. They are trained to understand the difficulties you have faced and may be facing now, as you once again consider your situation.
The abuse you suffered may have occurred a number of years ago – you may still be able to claim. Our specialist child abuse law team have successfully helped people to claim for abuse that happened many years, even decades ago.
Our specialist expertise
Partner, Stephanie Prior leads our team dealing with abuse claims and medical negligence claims. Stephanie is a specialist child abuse lawyer skilled at gaining results and compensation for her clients. She is a member of ACAL (The Association of Child Abuse Lawyers).
A recent client we have helped
Our client (MXM) received £100,000 in relation to a historical child abuse claim arising from sexual abuse he suffered, from a family member, over a prolonged period of 8 years. The abuse had a severe impact on our client’s life and he suffered severe mental health problems as a result.
He was around ten years old, when here called sitting in a car and being told “don’t tell your mum or dad, or I will go to prison”. MXM was regularly exposed to pornography and groomed by the family member and his friends, allowing them to drive tractors, combine harvesters and his car around the farm where he lived (they were underage) and to go hunting, trapping, to use air rifles, catapults and shotguns under his supervision. In return, he was asked to give sexual favours. The abuse ended when our client reached the age of 13 years of age.
MXM eventually reported the abuse to the police in, who investigated and brought charges.
His abuser pleaded guilty in 2015 to three counts of indecent assault on a boy aged under 16, contrary to section 15 of the Sexual Offences Act 1956. He also pleaded guilty to the same offence committed against another complainant. He was sentenced to seven years in prison and ordered to remain on the Sex Offenders Register for life. He was also made subject to a Sexual Offences Prevention Order banning him from unsupervised contact with children under 16.
As a consequence of the abuse, MXM suffered from significant mental health problems throughout his life. As a teenager he self-harmed and in later life he has suffered from several breakdowns.
Outcome
Specialist solicitor, Stephanie Prior represented the child and gained evidence from medical experts, including psychiatrists and issued proceedings in 2017. The defendant denied all alleged assaults. The case was taken to mediation and a settlement figure of £100,000 was agreed. Compensation was paid. As a result of the abuse our client continues to suffer on-going mental health issues.

“Mostly I am grateful that Shilpa was understanding about the delays caused by my illnesses, and that she stuck with me and got a good deal for my tenancy. I did feel she fought to protect me and my rights. I appreciate that she kept me informed about progress, sending copies of emails with the other side and consulting me when necessary. I appreciated her eye for detail on legal matters and how she stood firm against a somewhat tricky opposing solicitor.”
“Literally, putting your future in their hands, Robert Aylott and the team at Osbornes Law took the uncertainty, vulnerability and fear resulting from a catastrophic life event and turned it into a safety net for the rest of my life. Empathy, professionalism and delivering exactly what they say. You’re safe in their hands”.
I don't think I could have asked for anything more. One of the best dealings I've had with the legal profession.
"My experience with your company has exceeded my expectations both in 2014 and especially in my recent case this year, especially to the lady Alexandra Culic whom I strongly recommend."
