£60,000 payout for pedestrian accident claim
Laura Swaine recently settled a pedestrian who was knocked over by a car who turned into the a side street. Laura was able to recover in the region of £60,000 for our client.
Our client was walking home from work. She checked the road was clear prior to crossing the road. Our client was about 3-4 paces into the road when the Defendant came speeding around the corner and the car hit her.
Client sustained serious injuries
Our client sustained serious injuries including an open tibia fracture, blood clot to the lung and serious psychological shock. She required surgery to her ankle and was an inpatient for a few weeks. The injury impacted her ability to work as she was not able to get to and from work.
Insurance company denied liability
The insurance company denied liability however they made an early offer of settlement prior to the Claimant going in for further surgery. This offer placed undue pressure on our client at a time when she was at her most vulnerable.
Early offer accepted
Laura arranged for early rehabilitation intervention to assist our client’s recovery. Our client decided to accept a further early offer that the Defendant made as she was eager to settle her claim. Laura advised her that at this stage we cannot value her claim as we do not know how she would fully recover. Discussing the claim was affecting her and she would prefer to move on with her life.
Laura was recently ranked as a ‘Associate to Watch’ in Chambers and Partners. Laura specialises in serious injuries and fatal accidents as it accredited by the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers.
