Cyclist struck by a car obtains a £40k payout

Laura Swaine recently settled a claim for a cyclist who was struck by a car from behind. Laura was able to recover in the region of £40,000 for the cyclist.

Car ran over the cyclist foot at a T junction

The cyclist, an army officer, had been cycling to work. He had stopped at a T junction and preparing to turn left once the road was clear for him to do so. The Defendant drove up beside him and stopped. The Defendant suddenly moved forward and ran over the cyclists right foot.

The cyclist suffered serious fractures to his right foot

The cyclist suffered serious fractures to his right foot which required surgery and for him to be non weight bearing for a period of time. The insurance company accepted liability and were eager for an early settlement.

Laura arranged reports from several medical experts and a settlement was accepted

Due to the cyclist career Laura needed to see how his rehabilitation would pan out and how this injury may affect him in the future. Laura arranged reports from several medical experts including a specialist foot surgery and a podiatrist to build up a full picture of the cyclist’s injuries and prognosis. The cyclist accepted a settlement which he was delighted with.
