Claim settled for a cyclist who was struck by a car

Laura Swaine recently settled a claim for a cyclist who was struck by a car on a roundabout. Laura was able to recover in the region of £75,000 for the cyclist.

The car collided with the cyclist who was thrown from his bicycle

The cyclist, a retiree, had been riding to visit some friends. He entered the roundabout and was planning on taking the third exit. The Defendant entered the roundabout without looking and collided with the cyclist. The cyclist was thrown from his bicycle causing serious injuries. The Defendant initially fled the scene of the accident but was later found by the police.

Multiple fractures, ongoing bruises, and tendon injuries

The cyclist suffered multiple fractures to the pelvis, multiple right sided rib fractures and ongoing bruises and tendon injuries. The cyclist also suffered a psychological injury. Due to pre-existing injuries the impact of being immobile for quite some months affected the cyclist ability to heal which further impact his ability to recover quickly.

The Defendant was found at fault by the police

The insurance company took some time to admit liability stating their insured was blaming the cyclist for turning into their path. The Defendant was found at fault by the police and placed on a drivers awareness course. Following this the insurance company admitted liability.

Rehabilitation and settlement

During this period Laura arranged for the cyclist to undergo intensive physical and psychological rehabilitation to help aid his recovery.
