The Law Society of England and Wales have released new guidelines on how vulnerable individuals who have been victims of abuse should be questioned in Court.
Head of child abuse claims at Osbornes Solicitors, Stephanie Prior, appeared on the BBC’s Victoria Derbyshire programme alongside the President of The Law Society, Robert Bourns, to discuss. Both Stephanie and Mr Bourns agreed that aggressive line of questioning or even the fear of this was putting victims off from coming forward and speaking up about abuse they suffered as a child. Also on the programme was a lady who spoke about how her eight year old granddaughter was accused of fabricating abuse claims whilst giving evidence and the devastating effect this has had on her life.
